Otto D'Ambra
I was born in Milan December 3rd 1978, I graduate in 2003 at the academy of fine arts “Accademia di Brera” specializing in set design.I started collaborating in 1998 as set designer in various interior design practices. I never let go of my love for art and keep developing my research of a personal aesthetics in pictorial and graphic drawing. Fascinated by the concept of body art in 2005 i undertook, parallel to my work as set designer, a career as tattoo artist.
My work is the result of extensive research and experimentation to best render my most personal point of view.
I’ve always been influenced by surrealism as a lens through which to look at the world, the great possibilities it opens up. My drawings express a vision that is both ironic and critic. I create images that are quite direct and of impact, made of immediate though simple elements.
i draw since i was a kid, and always had fun experimenting with different tecniques, colour and media, which brought me to etching techniques. i like the contrast of a technique and style that recall past times and feels safe against strong impact images with a surrealistic twist that are instead challenging.
