Salvatore Battaglia is an Italian artist born in Sicily (1985), where he studied at Liceo Artistico "Diego Bianca Amato" in Cefalù to obtain a diploma of goldsmith and qualification of art master. Working as a ceramic artist, he developed skills to paint on various materials and surfaces while understanding colour and its use.
Using mixed media, Salvatore is trying to create artworks that are reflecting on the world full of diversity, emotional connection between dreams and reality and current issues in the world. His newest collection focuses on his roots and is dedicated to his homeland – Sicily and traditional Sicilian maiolica. Salvatore recently started collaboration with organization „ADDIOPIZZO“, a grassroots movement established in Sicily with aim to build a community of businesses and consumers who refuse to pay „pizzo“– mafia extortion money. As Salvatore finds the activity of Addiopizzo incredibly brave and forward thinking, he has decided to donate 10% of the sale price to ADDIOPIZZO organization.
Salvatore also enjoys the concept of 3D, therefore he decided to pursue this and most of his artworks involve the third dimension elements. All artworks are made from scratch, using gold leaf, resin, timber, metal, glass, plaster, silicon and oil colours.
