Twisted Loot comes to CDG
Posted on November 24, 2015
This December we will have none other that the downright loud and new shopping experience from Twisted Loot. Don’t expect your traditional Christmas shop here, but you will find the unusual and the beautiful with cages of psychedelic fashion and skull jewellery from Co-founder Kat Arnold A.K.A Virginia the Wolf. Here Virginia the Wolf tells us just how a dog skull became a full-blown business venture.
You can see her work on show with Twisted Loot 3rd-24th December.
Name: Virginia the Wolf
Discipline: There's no name for what I do, so I'm going to make one up: Osteoartist
Where did you study? The best place ever: The University of Life, and I did a BA in Anthropology and Sociology at Goldsmiths.
Tell us a little bit about your practice?
I hand make jewellery and art pieces from ethically sourced animal bones and skulls.
How did you find yourself in your trade?
I have no idea. An obsession with science, a passion for art and an uncontrollable urge to collect everything. It all started on a beach in Cuba, where I found a dog skeleton and when I brought him home, I was fascinated with his little skull and went to find more!
What advice would you give to anyone starting out?
Do something different, and become the master of it. But most importantly, be focused on whom you are, what you're doing and what you want to say with it.
Then work your arse off to reach your dreams!
